Folkestone LiveTown

Folkestone LiveTown is an independent local platform that makes it easy to discover what's happening in Folkestone.

Folkestone has a lot going on, but event information is scattered across social media, websites, posters, and word of mouth. This can be hard to find, and is impossible to search. People are missing out on events they might have gone to, and venues and organisers are not getting as many people through the door as they could be.

Folkestone LiveTown aggregates public event information into a single searchable place. Users can browse events in date order or calendar view, and filter them by category, tag or venue. While public events are added automatically, venue owners can choose to claim their venue to manage its profile and events directly. And, anyone with an account can add their own events!

Still in its early stages, Folkestone LiveTown added 350 events in its first two months and includes over 60 local venues. Created by a local resident and software developer, it is currently a self-funded independent project. The immediate goal is to become Folkestone's go-to guide to what is on, with longer-term plans to make the platform self-sustaining through carefully chosen options such as local advertising, newsletter sponsorship, or paid promotional features for venues and organisers, potentially expanding to other towns in the future if successful.

To get involved, people can visit the site and sign up for an account where they can browse and add events. Venues can claim their venue and manage their profile, and local organisations and events promoters can get in touch and provide information on where their events are currently being advertised, or ask for more information on how to be promoted on the site
